Patellar tendonitis is also the term for patellar ligament injury. Also called jumper's knee, patellar tendonitis is common in sports requiring much jumping like basketball, volleyball, or dance. A frequent sports overuse injury, patellar tendonitis can result from kicking and backward movement in soccer or tennis.
