Tennis elbow is a form of elbow tendonitis. When pain is diagnosed as lateral epicondylitis, the popular term is tennis elbow. A common sports and overuse injury, tennis elbow affects the tendon of the forearm muscles that bend the wrist backward. Tennis elbow is frequent in sports like badminton, tennis, and racquetball and work with repeated gripping activities like carpentry and homemaking. Tennis elbow may be prevented by keeping your wrist in neutral position for activities. Maintaining good strength of the upper arm/shoulder muscles and the wrist flexors and extensors is also preventive of tennis elbow. Heavy computer usage may result in repetitive strain leading to tennis elbow. Computer injuries like tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome have increased dramatically in recent years.
